Diversidad de macroparásitos en especies ícticas de la Familia Pimelodidae, de la llanura aluvial del río Paraná Medio

Abstract

Con el objetivo de conocer la diversidad de macroparásitos de peces de la Familia Pimelodidae de la llanura aluvial del río Paraná Medio, se capturaron 129 ejemplares de Luciopimelodus pati, Pimelodus albicans, P. maculatus y Pseudoplatystoma corruscans. Se destacan por ser componentes importantes de la fauna autóctona y por constituir especies de alto valor ecológico, comercial y deportivo. Las capturas se realizaron en ambientes leníticos y lóticos de los ríos Coronda, Salado y San Javier (Santa Fe). Luego de registrar talla y peso de los peces, se practicaron técnicas usuales de disección, hallándose 2068 ictioparásitos, que fueron preparados según protocolos de rutina. Se determinaron los descriptores parasitológicos, se aplicaron índices ecológicos y estadísticos sobre la información obtenida de peces y parásitos, analizando la interacción ecológica desde diferentes puntos de vista. Existe elevada diversidad parasitaria en el Sistema Paraná Medio, dada por 49 taxones de 8 grupos zoológicos de macroparásitos. En orden decreciente por su riqueza, pertenecieron a Monogenea (14), Nematoda (10), Eucestoda y Digenea (6 en cada caso), Acanthocephala (5), Copepoda (4), Branchiura (3) y Annelida (1). Se registran 3 especies aún no descriptas, se amplía la distribución geográfica de la mayoría de los taxones y se hallan nuevos hospedadores para parásitos citados en otros peces de la región neotropical. Se analizan con mayor profundidad las comunidades componentes de P. albicans y P. maculatus. Se discuten los resultados, postulando la importancia del conocimiento de los parásitos para evaluar los sistemas acuáticos y comprender el rol de los componentes del ecosistema.

In order to know the diversity of macroparasites in fish of the Pimelodidae family from the floodplain of the Middle Paraná River, 129 specimens of Luciopimelodus pati, Pimelodus albicans, P. maculatus and Pseudoplatystoma corruscans were captured. These species are very important components of native fauna and with highly ecological, commercial and sport value. Captures were made in lentic and lotic environments in the Coronda, Salado and San Javier Rivers (Santa Fe). Length and weight was measure and then dissection was performed to all fish: 2068 ichthyoparasites were found, which were prepared according to routine protocols. Parasitological descriptors were determined, and then ecological indices and statistical analysis applied in order to determine ecological interactions from different points of view. Results show that there is a high diversity of ichthyoparasites in the Middle Paraná system, including 49 taxa of 8 different groups of macroparasites. In a decreasing order of richness, they belong to Monogenea (14), Nematoda (10), Eucestoda and Digenea (6 in each case), Acanthocephala (5), Copepoda (4), Branchiura (3) and Annelida (1). Within these 49 taxa, 3 species have not been described yet. The geographical distribution of most of the taxa is expanded, and new hosts for ichthyoparasites from the neotropical region have been found. The component of P. albicans and P. maculatus communities are analyzed with more emphasis. In view of these results, we highlight the importance of knowing parasite communities in aquatic systems and understanding the role of all components of the ecosystem.
