| es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | Scientific and technological developments in recent decades have led to the intensification of agricultural production, resulting in a heavy reliance on pesticides to control pests (insects, weeds, and pathogens). Consequently, pesticide use has increased worldwide and and Argentina is no exception. Bees and other pollinating insects improve food production, helping to ensure global food security. These insects are constantly exposed to pesticides applied for crop protection. Through a literature review, the main factors that define bee population dynamics and the toxicological risk of the most commonly used active ingredients in the areas under studywere identified and characterized. While all pesticides can cause harm, insecticides present a the highest riskof causing toxicological events. The “Apitox” predictive index, developed using a fuzzy logic-based procedure that integrates parameters related to the toxicity of the active ingredient and the environmental conditions of the application, can assess the potential impactof applications on Apis mellifera populations. This indicator represents a valuable toolfor predicting and anticipating the impact of treatments on bee populations, providing relevant information to beekeepers, farmers, and consultants. | en_EN |
