dc.description.abstract The use of medical images has evolved from graphic representations to digital photography, facilitating telemedicine and the exchange of clinical information among healthcare professionals. However, their use raises ethical and legal issues that are often not fully understood by medical professionals in our country. A prospective, quantitative study was conducted using anonymous surveys administered to 68 medical professionals from public and private healthcare institutions in the city of Rafaela, Argentina, with the aim of analyzing the bioethical and medico-legal implications of medical photography in daily clinical practice. The results reveal frequent use of medical images, primarily for clinical purposes such as consultations between healthcare professionals and treatment follow-up. Nevertheless, significant shortcomings were identified, including the lack of systematic requests for written informed consent, the storage of images on personal devices without adequate security measures, and limited knowledge of the current legal framework. It is concluded that, although medical photography provides significant clinical benefits, substantial ethical and legal deficiencies remain in its management. This highlights the need to strengthen professional training, develop clear institutional protocols, and promote the use of secure technological tools that ensure the protection of patient privacy. en_EN
