This paper deals with the study of the social skills of communication, trust and teamwork in students of hospital practices of small animals in the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences of "Universidad Nacional del Litoral". In this final stage of their career students have the first approximation to the real practice as future veterinarians of small animals. This is where it is essential to identify whether, in addition to the scientific and technical necessesites for the efficient resolution of a particular clinical problem knowledge students have acquired other valid skills for proper insertion in the labor and social environment in which it will act. These young people should, first, relate personally to the owners of the animals arriving at the hospital to the emergency room. This scenario faces the professional future to a tension between what is supposed to be known, theories and procedures, the urgency to use this knowledge to solve a real problem and skills to listen, communicate, demonstrate self-esteem, ability to work with their team among other skills.
By all this it can be concluded that the social skills are, at this stage, of crucial importance in the formation of the veterinarian that it must be able to communicate without anxiety with the owner of the animal, with eloquence and conviction, with his colleagues, being assertive to generate a stream of confidence and optimism, must be sensitive and solidarity but at the same time sincere and crude, if the situation so warrants....
