Ganacias de peso de terneros destetados en forma hiperprecoz, precoz y al pie de la madre, en vacas primíparas con restricción alimenticia

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo longitudinal y retrospectivo, sobre datos de ganancia de peso de terneros cruzas al pie de la madre (T1), destete hiperprecoz (T2) y destete precoz (T3); en vacas primíparas con restricción alimenticia, durante noviembre del 2008 y abril del 2009, en un establecimiento dedicado a cría bovina (Dpto. Garay - Santa Fe). Los grupos estaban conformados por: el T1 con 28 terneros; el T2 con 30 terneros; y el T3 con 28 terneros. Al T2 se le suministro una ración elaborada en el predio, y el T3 se le suministro un alimento comercial (Ruter). Se registró el peso inicial, final y cuatro intermedias. Se realizó un análisis estadístico de tipo descriptivo para cada tratamiento; con estimaciones de los parámetros de resumen junto a estimaciones por intervalos de confianza al 95%. Por medio de la prueba de Shapiro-Wilks se comprobó la normalidad de los datos. En el T2 se obtuvo una ganancia de peso con una media de 97,61 kg; el T3 con una media de 84,36 kg; y el T1 con una media de 78,76 kg. En conclusión, la edad temprana de destete, es la herramienta tecnológica disponible para situaciones de baja disponibilidad forrajera, especialmente en categorías jóvenes, con el objeto de no afectar la velocidad de crecimiento de los animales. La implementación de las distintas alternativas de destete, es una decisión que el profesional debe evaluar y determinar su impacto, en función a la disponibilidad recursos y objetivos empresariales.

A retrospective longitudinal descriptive and observational study was carried out regarding data on the weight gain of calves crossed at the mother's foot (T1), hyper-early weaning (T2), and early weaning (T3). During November 2008 and April 2009, in an establishment dedicated to bovine breeding (Dpto. Garay - Santa Fe) the study on primiparous cows with food restriction was conducted. The groups were made up of: T1 with 28 calves, T2 with 30 calves, and finally T3 with 28 calves. Calves from T2 were supplied with a portion prepared on the farm, and calves from T3 were supplied with commercial food (Ruter). The initial, final, and four intermediate weights were recorded. A descriptive statistical analysis was carried out for each treatment with estimates of summary parameters together with estimates by 95% confidence intervals. Through the Shapiro-Wilks test, the normality of the data was verified. As regards group T2, weight gain was obtained with an average of 97.61 kg, in group T3 it was obtained with an average of 84.36 kg, and finally in group T1 with an average of 78.76 kg. In conclusion, in order not to affect the growth speed of the animals, early weaning age is the technological tool available for situations of low forage availability especially in young categories. The implementation of different weaning alternatives and its impact is a decision that the veterinarian must evaluate and determine based on the availability of resources and business objectives.
