Abstract

Based on two Argentine editions of Vladimir Mayakovsky prepared by Lila Guerrero, Antología de Maiacovski. Su vida y su obra (Claridad, 1943) and Obras escogidas (Platina, 1957‒1959), this study aims, on one hand, to place each translation of Mayakovsky within the corresponding publishing catalog, and, on the other hand, to analyze the texts that Lila Guerrero wrote as a foreword to her translations. This approach focuses on the role of the translator in the literary importation process and the functions of those editorial translations in of Argentina’s left‒wing political and cultural debates.
