Environmental perception and sustainable practices in dairy production in Argentina

This study examines the perception of dairy producers regarding environmental issues and their willingness to adopt sustainable practices through a survey of 242 producers in Argentina. A quantitative methodology was employed using a Google Forms questionnaire, which included questions on producer profiles, their perception of environmental issues, and current sustainability practices. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics with R software. The findings indicate that, although environmental awareness is high, the implementation of sustainable practices remains limited. Despite recognizing the need for measures such as effluent management, responsible water use, and alternative energy generation, the adoption of these practices is low, particularly among smaller-scale producers. This highlights a gap between perception and action, suggesting the need for strategies tailored to the size and resources of each producer. The study proposes actions such as awareness campaigns, specialized training based on farm size, and collaboration with institutions to enhance sustainability. Additionally, concrete examples of how alliances and certifications can be implemented to generate impact are emphasized.
