In the first part of this article, we present some important milestones in the development of women's history in historiography, taking as an axis the category of gender. We look at the cases of the United States, from the perspective of Joan Scott (2003), and of Argentina, from the perspective of Dora Barrancos (2005). Subsequently, we articulate the category of gender with the evolution of women's history in the field of musicology. In the second part of this article, we present an analysis of the record mujer/MUJER (1984) by Chany Suárez, taking up tools presented in the first part.
This work is part of a broader investigation, covering emerging referents in Argentine folklore between the end of the dictatorship (1982-1983) and the beginning of democracy. In this sense, our proposal of analysis considers this record as a device of enunciation, in line with our previous works (Mariani, 2019a; 2019b and 2020).
