We present here a chronicle of the beginnings of the Revista del Instituto Superior de Música de la Universidad Nacional del Litoral (Santa Fe, Argentina), more precisely of the first nine issues published during the thirteen years from 1989 to 2002, in which we participated. It reviews the circumstances of its creation, the difficulties encountered, the gradual incorporation of contributors and the reception of the articles, as well as the journal's relationship with the development of the university's research policies. It also reflects on this corpus by looking at the fields covered, the dominant themes, the authors and their careers. Likewise, it refers to the material choices made in terms of graphic design, the gradual constitution of an institutional profile and the consolidation of this publication within the local musicological framework.
