Aportes a los conceptos de "uso" y "norma" en De lingua latina de M. Terencio Varrón

Abstract

The writer proposes a re-reading of Varro's De lingua latina, under the light of the concepts of "use" and "norm" with the intention of demonstrating the force of this Latin writer's approaches. The analysis are focused on chapters VIII, IX and X related to linguistics analogy and anomaly. Varro's point of view is pragmatic and furthermore he tries to join different thoughts and to draw what he cares from opposite theories. Connected to modern statements on language, certain ideas –as those studied in this paper– makes Varro a pioneer of current subjects under discussion.
