Conservación preventiva de las colecciones bibliográficas en papel en las bibliotecas escolares de Rojas, Buenos Aires

Abstract

La presente investigación se centró en describir la Conservación Preventiva de las colecciones bibliográficas en papel, en las Bibliotecas Escolares de Rojas, Buenos Aires, como una manera de salvaguardar las colecciones para las futuras generaciones y a su vez hacerlas accesibles para su uso con el menor deterioro posible. La metodología de la investigación adoptada es de tipo descriptivo y, para el trabajo de campo, se construyeron instrumentos de recolección de datos basados en la encuesta (cuestionario) y la observación (informe). Las variables que se midieron son: el historial de daños; los riesgos potenciales del edificio escolar y las instalaciones de la biblioteca; el almacenamiento y la manipulación, los sistemas de seguridad y el manejo de emergencias; la gestión de los bienes culturales desde el rol del directivo. El presente trabajo llega a las siguientes conclusiones: el mayor historial de daño está dado por, el agua, el fuego, además del hurto y vandalismo, con menor incidencia. Los mismos elementos se constituyen en los más altos potenciales de riesgos. Las condiciones de almacenamiento no son parejas en todos los casos, prevalece la sobrecarga de los estantes y la falta de espacio; se desconocen normas básicas para una correcta manipulación. La seguridad también es desequilibrada: unos tienen varios dispositivos y otros adolecen de lo mínimo, por ejemplo rejas. No existe planificación para enfrentar las emergencias. Los directivos expresan respuestas divergentes relación con los alcances de su gestión en conservación preventiva.

The present investigation is focused on describing the scope of the topic Preventive Conservation of the current paper bibliographic collections, at School Libraries of Rojas, Buenos Aires, as a way to safeguard the collections for future generations and in turn to make them accessible for use with the least possible deterioration. The methodology of the research adopted is descriptive and, for fieldwork, data collection instruments were built based on the survey (questionnaire) and observation (report). The variables that were measured with these instruments are the damage history and the potential risks of the school building and library facilities; storage and handling, security systems and emergency management, management of cultural assets from the role of the manager. The work reaches the following conclusions: the greatest history of damage is given by two elements, water, fire, in third place: theft and vandalism, with less incidence. The same elements constitute the highest potential risks. The storage conditions are not even in all cases, overloading the shelves and lack of space prevails; basic rules for correct handling are unknown. The security is also unbalanced: some have several devices and others suffer from the minimum, for example bars. They are not prepared to face emergencies, there is no planning. The managers expressed divergent answers in relation to the scope of their management in preventive conservation.
