Escucha y fonografía: aproximaciones ecológicas, tecnológicas y artísticas.

Abstract

La investigación propone reflexionar acerca de la escucha y su relación con la fonografía; desde una perspectiva ecológica, tecnológica y artística. En lo que respecta a la escucha, deberá ser entendida como una actividad en construcción, a desarrollar. Los objetos de estudio dejan de ser entonces exclusivamente las obras o el sonido en general, para concentrarse en cambio en las formas de percibir. Dentro de dicho campo, específicamente, se buscará pensar el vínculo de la escucha con la fonografía, entendida como “sonido grabado” (ver Estado del arte). Como escribe Solomos, “El sonido acompaña la vida de los hombres de hoy como nunca antes lo ha hecho [...]. Gracias a la grabación sonora y al progreso tecnológico, se ha hecho posible e inevitable escucharlo donde sea que estemos, permanentemente” (2013). Frente a la situación descrita por el autor, el grupo intentará pensar la formas en que la fonografía influye en nuestras escuchas, formas de componer y de pensar la música y el sonido. Para llevarlo a cabo, se trabajará a partir de tres ejes: ecológico, tecnológico y artístico. Desde la perspectiva artística, se propondrán composiciones, instalaciones u otras formas de creación sonora en relación al tema. La perspectiva ecológica pretende pensar esta relación desde un punto de vista ético: en cómo la ubicuidad fonográfica modifica nuestras formas de habitar el mundo, nuestra relación con los otros y con nosotros mismos (Guattari, 1989). El eje tecnológico, finalmente, buscará pensar cómo diferentes estrategias de registro y procesamiento sonoro en la producción fonográfica promueven determinados modos de escucha.

The present research is aimed to reflect upon listening and it?s relation to phonography, from three different, yet close, perspectives: ecological, technological and artistic. The activity of listening will be regarded as a construction, in perpetual development. In that sense, there's a shift from studying the musical oeuvre, or the sound itself, to studying the ways in which they might or can be listened to. From this perspective on, phonography will be conceived in a broad sense, understanding it as "recorded sound" (see State of the art). According to Solomos, "Sound goes along with contemporary human beings like never before [...]. Thanks to sound recording and to technological progress, it has become possible and inevitable listening to it no matter where we are, in a permanent fashion" (2013). Facing the situation depicted by the author, the research group will aim to reflect upon the multiple ways in which phonography influences our listening, ways of composing and of thinking about music and sound. In what respects to the artistic perspective, original musical compositions and/or sound art creations which dialogate and interrogate this perspective will be crafted. The ecological perspective will inquire, also involving an ethical point of view, how the ubiquity which characterizes phonography nowadays affects the ways in which we inhabit the world, our relationship with others and with ourselves (Guattari, 1983). Lastly, the technological perspective will interrogate hoy different sound recording and processing strategies tend to promote specific ways or modes of listening to the sonic matter.
