Debates contemporáneos en torno a la "justificación epistémica" y sus aplicaciones en ciencias formales y fácticas.

Abstract

El objetivo general del presente Proyecto es llevar a cabo una indagación sistemática respecto de una serie de debates contemporáneos en torno a la noción y los empleos de la "Justificación Epistémica". En primer lugar, se proporcionarán reconstrucciones teóricas y evaluaciones críticas de las contribuciones realizadas por tres líneas de investigación actuales al problema de la justificación epistémica, a saber: la "Epistemología Hinge", la crítica "neo-pragmatista" al modelo fundacionalista y la Epistemología del testimonio. En segundo lugar, se realizará un estudio sistemático sobre la naturaleza y las prácticas de justificación epistémica en el campo de las ciencias formales (especialmente en matemática) y de las ciencias fácticas. En particular, se buscará ofrecer nuevas y originales clarificaciones conceptuales de las nociones de demostración formal y rigor matemático, como modelos de justificación matemática, así como de la noción de evidencia empírica (en sus dimensiones lógica, epistémica y metafísica), en el campo de las ciencias fácticas.

The general aim of this project is to carry out a systematic investigation into a series of contemporary debates on the notion and uses of "Epistemic Justification". Firstly, we will provide theoretical reconstructions and critical evaluations of the contributions to the problem of epistemic justification made by three current lines of research, namely "Hinge Epistemology", the "neo-pragmatic" critique of the foundationalist model, and the Epistemology of testimony. Secondly, we will offer a systematic study of the nature and practices of epistemic justification in the fields of formal sciences (especially mathematics) and empirical sciences. In particular, we will provide new and original conceptual clarifications of the notions of formal proof and mathematical rigor, as models of mathematical justification, as well as of the notion of empirical evidence (in its logical, epistemic and metaphysical dimensions), in the field of empirical sciences.
