Abstract

El artículo expone las principales perspectivas teóricas de la antropología económica, entendida como el estudio de los procesos de producción, distribución, circulación y consumo enlas sociedades precapitalistas. Se presenta a la antropología económica comoun área de complementación de esfuerzos entre economistas, historiadores y antropólogos, resaltando su importancia en las facultades de ciencias económicas. Se comentan brevemente las cuestiones fundamentales de esta ciencia,tales como la discusión sobre el carácter abstracto de la economía, la polémica entre sustantivistas y formalistas, los aportes dediversos estudios etnográficos, la perspectiva de la escuela marxista y la controversia entre materialistas y culturalistas. Finalmente, el trabajo detalla las líneas de investigación en América Latina y en Argentina y brinda una abundante bibliografía para profundizar los aspectos de interés para el investigador.
