Abstract

The aim of this article is to problematize the nature of the Cartesian sign. To this end, we will analyze the significant function present in perceptual ideation, imagination and memory and its correlate in linguistic expression. This analysis will allow us to understand the semiotic nature of the ego and the role played by the sign in the substantial union of body and soul, namely, being a mode of extension that expresses thought, being a thought extension.
