Abstract

The podiatric activity takes place in a contaminated environment, so it is necessary to maintain a strict biosafety control, emphasizing the sterilization and handling of work material. The objective of this research was to evaluate the effectiveness of the sterilization processes in podiatric clinics in the city of Santa Fe, through a cross-sectional descriptive observational study; for which chemical and biological controls were implemented in the dry heat sterilization equipment, in addition to a closed survey addressed to professionals. 54 professionals who carried out the sterilization process participated in the study. Based on the results obtained, it was observed that 28% of the controlled processes did not meet the requirements. The purpose of this research is to disseminate the results in the professional and academic fields in order to achieve a successful and reliable podiatric practice that protects professionals and their patients.
