Abstract

The classical Greek world made it clear its condemnation of the excessive behavior. Examples of this can be found in the great classical writers’ works, shown in a gradation that starts off with simple boasting up to the most severe level of pride against the gods.  Pseudo-Justin Martyr’s writings rescue the classic concept of ὕβρις, redefining it to censor those who opposed Christian orthodoxy.
