León Rozitchner’s Marxism

From Social Beings to the Dreamy Materialism

Abstract

The present article intends to elucidate the key points of the addition of Marx’s legacy into the works of León Rozitchner. The hypothesis articulating the text defines Marxism as a matrix of intelligibility that grants continuity and persistence to the main topics of the Argentinian writer’s philosophy. Particularly, I will focus on  Rozitchner’s youth and adulthood years so as to verify how, over the years, there is a cohesion to the multiple transformations of his philosophy based on his Marxist perspective, conceived as a theoretical framework, which was never forsaken. It will also be highlighted that some concepts of the Marxist legacy appropriated during his youth years (such as the concept of “social beings”) are resignified based on the transformations and distances that Rozitchner applies by way of his reading of Marx, which would eventually end up in the production of his innovative “dreamy materialism.”
