About the Journal
Information on the Journal
Focus and Scope. Aims, audience and frequency
TÓPICOS is a journal published every six months, co-edited by the Asociación Revista de Filosofía de Santa Fe (ARFIL) and the Universidad Nacional del Litoral (UNL). Its main objective is to promote an exchange of productions in the field of philosophical research. The Journal is intended to the academic community of researchers and scholars dealing with the problems covered by current philosophy and the history of the discipline itself. It is open to all philosophical orientations and to the interdisciplinary dialogue with the sciences. It publishes articles and original contributions -in Spanish and Portuguese- that make progress in the knowledge of the issues addressed, and contribute to the debate on the current problems of theoretical philosophy, practical philosophy, and the interpretation and criticism of the history of philosophy. The works published by the journal are therefore of interest to a broad audience.
The writing protocols are detailed in the Submissions section.
Biannual issues are published in June and December of each year.
Editorial Code of Ethics
This publication has a Code of Ethics and Good Scientific Publishing Practice which clarifies that no text will be allowed that is an apology for the crime, contains inappropriate language (unless absolutely necessary in the context of the writing), or is offensive to any sector of the population, whether on the basis of gender, sexual preference, religion, politics or ideology. In addition, a commitment is made to ensure the respect and integrity of already published works. In this sense, plagiarism is also strictly forbidden and texts that are identified as plagiarism or whose content is fraudulent will not be admitted by the Journal. It is at the decision of the Director and the Editorial Committee to ban any text that does not comply with these guidelines. Besides, there is no requirement or limitation for the publication of texts.
Furthermore, TÓPICOS adheres both to the document CONICET: Guidelines for Ethical Behavior in the Social Sciences and Humanities (Resolution No. 2857, December 11, 2006), and to the document Guide lines on Good Publication Practice (Committee on Publications Ethics: COPE).
Plagiarism Detection Policy
Plagius software is used for plagiarism detection. This control stage is in charge of the Editorial Board.
Policy of non-exclusive assignment of rights. Open access
The acceptance of a text by the Journal implies the non-simultaneous submission to other journals or editorial boards, and the non-exclusive cession of the economic rights of the authors in favour of the editor, who allows the reuse, after its edition (post-print), as long as: a) the authorship and the original source of its publication (journal, publisher and URL of the work) are cited; b) they are not used for commercial purposes.
In line with the open access policy, publish or read TÓPICOS has no charge for either the author or the reader and encourages authors to submit their contributions to other institutional repositories, favouring true archival policies that guarantee the survival and access to texts which, in most cases, are the product of work financed by state agencies.
This means that the journal ratifies the open-access model in which the contents of scientific publications are available, with free full text on the Internet, without temporary restrictions and whose editorial production costs are not transferred to the authors. This policy proposes to break the economic barriers that generate inequalities, both in access to information and in the publication of research results.

Peer review process
Evaluation system. Information for authors
- All the contributions received are submitted to a peer review, and are evaluated in the first instance by the Director and the Editorial Board in their formal aspects. Then, they are sent to two reviewers of the Evaluation Committee.
- The selection of the reviewers for each paper is made by the Director and the Editorial Board of the journal, with the advice of the Editorial Advisory Board. According to the subject of each article, the collaboration of two reviewers who are experts in the field and external to the Journal will be required to carry out the evaluation.
- The Journal has an evaluation system known as the "double-blind method". That is, the designated reviewers will not know the name of the author of the paper, nor vice versa.
- The Evaluation Committee is responsible for the final approval of papers for publication. For this, it will be guided by a document provided by the journal's Editorial Board, entitled: "Guidelines for the evaluation of articles". In this document, the relevance, pertinence, clarity in writing and argumentation of each paper will be considered in detail.
- The two reviewers designated for each paper shall provide a written reasoned opinion of acceptance, rejection or acceptance subject to modification. In the event of conflicting opinions, a third evaluator shall be consulted. If two of them agree not to publish, the decision is communicated to the author of the paper. If modifications are required, the Editorial Board will exchange corrections and returns between the author and the evaluators until the reviewers communicate the final decision.
- All the instances within the evaluation process will be informed to the author of the work: 1. Reception of the article; 2. Return of the preliminary evaluation made by the Drafting Committee in terms of formal aspects and relevance; 3. Return of the preliminary evaluation made by the Drafting Committee in terms of formal aspects and relevance; 4. Results of both evaluations and final opinion: (a) acceptance of the publication; (b) rejection; or (c) acceptance subject to modifications with the concession of a period for a new submission.

Preservation Policy
The information contained in the "Periodic Publication System" (PPS), is preserved in different digital media on a daily and weekly basis. The media used for "back-up copying" are hard disks and magnetic tapes.
Hard disk back-up: two hard disks are used. The hard disks are configured with a RAID 1 scheme. In addition, another copy is made to a remote back-up server that is located in a different physical location than the main PPS server. This copy is made every 12 hours, without compression and/or encryption.
For back-up copies on magnetic tape there are two schemes: daily and weekly back-up copy.
Daily back-up on magnetic tape: every 24 hours a full back-up of the PPS is made. A total of 18 different magnetic tapes are available for this process in a rotating scheme. One magnetic tape is used per day, and the magnetic tape with the oldest back-up copy is overwritten. It gives a total time of back-up of up to 25 days backwards.
Weekly back-up on magnetic tape: every week (every Saturday) another full back-up on magnetic tape is made. For this back-up copy there are 10 magnetic tapes in a rotating scheme. Each new back-up copy is made on the magnetic tape containing the oldest copy, giving a total back-up time of up to 64 days.
Files on magnetic tape are stored in "zip" format, compressed by the back-up management system. In the case of failure of the magnetic tape read/write equipment, there are two reading and recording equipment that can be exchanged. The magnetic tapes of the daily and weekly backup copies are stored inside a fireproof container (safe).
Database Backup: A daily backup (dump) of the system database and a backup of the entire database engine with fail-safe capability is applied for up to (5) five minutes prior to the crash. Additionally, the database server is mirrored on two nodes, and both have RAID 1.
