This article analyzes the position of the so‒called «foreign literatures» in the university curriculum of literary studies in Argentina. Through a clipping that examines various cases in which nationality is insufficient to address the complexity of the literary text, established consensuses are reviewed and a debate that crosses the field of comparative literature is updated. This is a necessary discussion to rethink the organization of literary knowledge and the knowledge economy in the humanities and to formulate alternatives for teaching and researching literature beyond national borders, in a cosmopolitan framework, far removed from both Eurocentric brands and provincial and chauvinistic agendas.
