Saying the sea. Word‒image interaction from a comparative perspective

The representations of the sea presented in the short‒story «Una región perdida», by Bernardo Kordon, and the novels Kanaka, by Juan Bautista Duizeide, and La costa ciega, by Carlos María Domínguez, define literary poetics through the reworking of pictorial language. The main objective of this study is to explore the ways in which literature confronts the convention of the unrepresentability of the sea. The methodological proposal combines two branches of comparatism: the study of the relationship between artistic languages, focused on ekphrasis, with that of the exchanges between national literatures, which takes Argentine literature as a starting point to establish critical relationships that are significant for the definition of strategies and poetics of representation.
