University extension: ruptures and continuities impacts the current scenario of public higher education committed to society defined by the performance of collective, interdisciplinary and intersectoral experiences read from the paradigm of complexity and integrality. The five chapters enable a current agenda of core topics in extension through debates, reflections and proposals based on an extension that produces new meanings and invites the active participation of the academic community: it expands the extension to a humanized territoriality, invites curricularization as a political strategy, sows a systematization associated with teaching, mainstreams communication that links, transforms and promotes extension training as an instituting tool. From the extension conceived in this way, the university is involved in a reciprocal training process with society while enriching disciplinary trajectories from the sensitivity of praxis with an ethical–political dimension.
