Abstract

This paper attempts to construct an historicist discourse in relation to the origins of the digital paradigm in architecture, focusing on the productive processes of digital manufacturing and the genesis of the ideas that sustain it. To that end, it analyzes the theoretical work of five architects considered as the precursors of this paradigm, as an historical background of the fourth industrial revolution. This is the case of the ideas of Frederick Kiesler, Christopher Alexander, Cedric Price, Nicholas Negroponte, and William J. Mitchell. From this analysis, a series of possible scenarios and conclusions are proposed, as keys for understanding the physical-digital convergence in the generation of the architecture project.
