The following paper is a historical journey through the different forms of film viewing from a particular point of view: the possibility of detecting different «performances» that the public has acquired on that journey, from a general survey to the pointing out of the particularities that occur at local level. This task, in fact partial and thus “notes”, is proposed as a starting point for further developments and its theoretical framework is the phenomenological description, especially the one developed by Merleau-Ponty, although not exclusively, since certain phenomena can be accounted for from other philosophical traditions, such as the critical theory of the Frankfurt school.
