In this work we intend to discuss –from a qualitative perspective–the possible link between filmmakers of Santa Fe and the general process of political radicalization in the ‘60s–’70s in Argentina. We assume that the political situationaffected all the aspects of social life, also its relative autonomy. First, we outline the general characteristics of the structure of the sub–fieldof cinema in Santa Fe city. Then, we focus on the strike of teachers and students of the Cinematography Institute of the National University of Litoral (UNL) that ocurred in 1970–1971. The strike functions as a starting place to visualize the different positions of the filmmakers around art and politics. In this way this paper proposes a twofold analysis: the structure of the field on the one hand, and the different positions, readings, productions and discussions of young filmmakers around the phenomenon of political radicalization on the other.
