Abstract

In this work, I propose an analysis about some of the petite-bourgeoise contradictions presented in Los que no fuimos a la guerra (1930). At first, it will be necessary to approach to the narrative voice, that works as the most important element of cohesion among the events. Secondly, we will focus on the connection between the colective moral and the armed conflicts, as well as its material consecuences. Finally, I will tackle the dialectic between the aim of find a new aesthetic form and its destruction through the caricature. In spite of the usual ambiguity that is presented in the Fernández Flórez’s novels, I conclude that these contradictions cause a naïve look of the tragedy of war, whose single argument will be underlying pre-fascists theories.
