Abstract

This dossier offers an outlook of the latest investigation about the bond between art, in its´ multiple forms, and politics, in the left culture of Argentina in the period 1920‒1970. The main objective is to reveal and discuss new critical perspectives about problems, objects, esthetics practices, debates and sociability places connected with the complex bond between art and politics, in the country during the mentioned period. Through a shared axis that recovers the well known topic of the intelectual commitment and —it´s other side, the autonomy of artistic practices—, that generated important repercussions in some radical political moments at international scale. The articles inquire into different possitions, creative acts and intervention modes in wich writers, journalists, musicians and visual artists stand in those occasion, avoiding any rigid or dogmatic answer to what commitment should be. In all the studies that compose the dossier appers debate and practices that values art, as an instrument capable of contribute to the political fight, figured in terms of a transformation that contained a cultural battle.
