Abstract

In this essay we propose exploring the dialogue between Paulo Freire’s proposals and the contributions made by social space theorists, addressing two research lines: the relationships between knowledge, education, and space, and the materiality of space in the school/educational field. Bearing this in mind, we inquire into the research works published by the Brazilian pedagogue in his last years after being exiled and the approaches proposed by Engels and Lefebvre. We hold that both works share some ideas in relation to the complaint about the false neutrality of the spatial aspect.

María Florencia Serra, Instituto Rosario de Investigaciones en Ciencias de la Educación (IRICE, CONICET, UNR). Facultad de Humanidades y Artes, Universidad Nacional de Rosario (FHyA, UNR)

Profesora y licenciada en Ciencias de la Educación (UNR). Especialista en Proyecto, Planificación y Gestión de Arquitectura para la Educación (UNL). Doctoranda en Doctorado en Ciencias de la Educación (FFyH–UNC). Becaria Doctoral de CONICET (IRICE, CONICET–UNR) y docente en la cátedra de Pedagogía en la Facultad de Humanidades y Artes (UNR). Sus investigaciones giran en torno a la pregunta por los diálogos entre arquitectura y pedagogía. Integra proyectos de investigación en distintas universidades nacionales y ha publicado en libros y revistas sobre el tema.

Sobre el autor

Profesor de Historia (UNR). Técnico Superior en Periodismo (ISET 18). Antecedentes: Adscripto en Pedagogía e Historia de América I. Ayudante de cátedra 2da categoría en Espacio y Sociedad (2015–2019), y Teoría Sociológica (2017–2021). Sus líneas de investigación se vinculan principalmente con la Historia colonial (s. XVI–XIX) y la Historia de la educación Latinoamericana. Ha participado en variados congresos y realizado publicaciones sobre el tema. Es integrante de equipos de investigación radicados en la UNR./
