This research work is intended to be a contribution
to initial education in the framework of its
growth in recent years as part of the formal teaching
system. The central issue refers to trends, changes,
and continuities in curricular prescriptions of Initial
Education in the period comprised between 1984 and
2010 in the province of Entre Ríos, Argentina. The
study is carried out by analyzing both the four curricular
documents that were in force in the aforementioned
period and testimonials, opinions, and assessments
gathered by kindergarten teachers along the development
of their professional careers. The absence of
specific works on this subject for the first educational
level in Entre Ríos motivated this research to address
the problem in order to raise awareness about this
issue. The aims of this study are: to describe curricular
prescriptions of the first level of education in the
province of Entre Ríos in the period comprised between
1984 and 2010; to identify the differences, similarities,
continuity, and changes in these prescriptions; and
to know the opinions and assessments on structuring
subjects and curricular development in relation to the
transformations generated by curriculum changes in
the mentioned period.
